Team photos will be taken by Intercollegiate Athletics Tuesday January 31/12 in the wrestling room.  6:15 pm

Varsity team members are to wear their UA track suits.  Non-varsity to wear London-Western gear or Western gear

It is planned that photos will be taken for:

  1. varsity only
  2. All — varsity, non-varsity

There will be a regular practice prior, but will end early.

Six medals were earned at the prestigious Guelph Open.  Team members performed well against some top competition from across the country.

Brianne Barry secures the pinning hold.  Brianne won the match at the bronze in the 55 kg division.

Mustang rookie, Valerie Ouellette (48 kg) and Brian Cowan (54 kg) both won individual gold medals in their respective divsions at the Brock Open.  Brian defeated brother Adam, who attends Brock, in the 54 kg final in two straight rounds 2-0, 6-0.

Teammates, Jessica Sove won the bronze in the 59 kg division, while men, Eric Jacobson (82 kg) and Shawn Wheatley (90 kg) placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Women mustangs, Larissa D’Alleva and Liz Sera were selected by the Women’s National Program to attend the National Women’s Training Camp in Phoenix, Arizona over the Holiday break.

Winnipeg, December 16-18, 2011

Ilya Abelev and Steven Takahashi depart today for the Olympic Trials hosted by the University of Winnipeg and sanctioned by Wrestling Canada.  Abelev (66 kg) will compete Friday 16th in the Pool Tournament while Takahashi, who is #2 on the ladder at 55 kg will await the winner of the Pool tournament and #3 (Promise Mwenga of Black Bears WC) on Saturday 17th.  Both Abelev and Takahashi are still junior-age and have been competitive against the top seniors in Canada.
