The new wrestling season is quickly approaching with the first practice and meeting scheduled for Monday September 13, 2010.

Information meeting for new and returning members for men and women: Monday Sept.13, 4:30 – 5:15 pm room 3101 Thames Hall.
Short practice to follow. Practice location: Alumni Hall lower gym #15. Take tunnel from Thames Hall locker room. Dress for practice (wrestling shoes – or clean non-marking shoes, t-shirt, shorts).
Practices times Mon. Tues. Wed. Thurs. 4:30-6:30 pm and Fri. 4:00-6:00 pm weekdays September 13 through March 2011 (subject to change). Previous experience highly recommended.
CIS Women’s Weight Classes: 48, 51, 55, 59, 63, 67, 72, 82 kg.
CIS Men’s Weight Classes: 54, 57, 61, 65, 68, 72, 76, 82, 90, 130 kg |

Two mustang alumni will be inducted into Western’s Hall of Fame during Homecoming weekend, October 1, 2010.
Belinda Chou and Guy Zink had outstanding wrestling careers at Western and continue to give back to the sport of wrestling. Zink is currently Western Wrestling’s Alumni Coordinator and writes a column in the Ontario Wrestler Magazine published by the Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association. Chou currently teaches high school in Shelburne, ON, where she has established a wrestling program at Centre Dufferin DHS. Both Zink and Chou were CIAU champions and have represented Canada in international competition.
Congratulations to both.

Congratulations to London-Western’s three junior world team members who just competed at the World Junior Championships in Budapest, Hungary, July 21, 22, 2010. Brianne Barry (55 kg) placed 5th winning 3 matches, while Ramona Balfour (44 kg) and Olivia Gunnell (59 kg) both placed 13th.
Coaches, Dave Spinney and Saeed Azarbayjani were members of the coaching staff of the Canadian team.

Incoming recruit, Steven Takahashi placed 2nd at the Junior Pan American Wrestling Championships in Managua, Nicaragua, July 11. Steven defeated Ecuador, USA, and Venezuela in the 55 kg FS division. He lost to Dominican Republic in finals.
