OTTAWA (CIS) – Canadian Interuniversity Sport formally announced Thursday that the University of Calgary will be the site of the 2010 CIS wrestling championships.
The UofC will host the nation’s top female and male university grapplers for the third straight year on Friday, March 5, and Saturday, March 6.
The competition was also held in Calgary in 1995 and 1975, before women’s wrestling was added to the CIS program in 1998-99.
“We are pleased to play host the 2010 championships,” said Calgary head coach Mitch Ostberg, a three-time CIS women’s wrestling coach of the year. “The CIS championships allow us to present our country’s best university athletes to wrestling fans in Calgary and our campus community. As well, it gives us an opportunity to showcase our Dinos wrestlers, who should once again be in contention for the national team titles.”
The Intercollegiate Athletic Program will host a luncheon to honour the 2008-09 Academic All Canadians, Thursday December 10/90 at the Great Hall, UWO.
The award is in recognition of student-athletes who have maintained an average of at least 80%, while competing on a varsity team in the 2008/2009 season.
Congratulations to the following team members:
